Looking for a place to take your pup to play off leash in Scottsdale? Here are 3 City of Scottsdale dog parks you may want to check out: Chaparral Park, Horizon Park and Vista del Camino Park.
1. Chaparral Park is the largest of the 3 dog parks. The facility covers a total of 4 acres, and has 3 acres of grass. It’s the perfect place to play fetch or just let your dog run around and stretch his legs.
The park has 3 off-leash areas with one always closed for maintenance and turf restoration. The two areas that are open on any given day are divided into an area for active dogs and an area for passive dogs providing the safest environment for all canine visitors to the park.
It’s open from 5:30am to 10:00pm from May to October and from 6:00am to 10:00pm from November to April.
The entire park is closed for maintenance on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:00am-noon and also temporarily shuts down when wet conditions or frost exist, to protect the grass.
2. Horizon Park’s off-leash area is 2/3’s of an acre located off of Frank LLoyd Wright Blvd and 92nd St. Due to a lack of lighting structures, it it open year round from sunrise to sunset and the hours adjust with the season.
A ramada is provided for shade for pets and owners within the fenced area. The park temporarily shut downs for weekly maintenance, which occurs on Thursdays, between 9:30am and 12:30pm.
3. Vista Del Camino Park is the smallest of the parks, only 1/2 acre, but also provides the longest hours of play for pups from 5:30am to 10:00pm every day. It has shade trees, water fountains and benches.
