McDowell Mountain Golf Club

McDowell Mountain Golf Club, at the south end of McDowell Mountain Ranch, has become one of the premier public golf courses in the Valley. This Scottsdale golf gem shines even brighter after undergoing a massive golf course enhancement and renovation in 2011. Course architectural changes were overseen by the original golf course architect, Randy Heckenkemper, along with Phil Mickelson, and included widening many of the playing corridors, creating additional waste bunkers and adding tee areas. The walkable course is challenging for every level of golfer, with slopes ranging from 109 to 137, and yardage ranging from 4,880 to 7,072. In 2013 a new clubhouse was built and includes dining areas, banquet rooms, locker rooms and a fully-appointed pro shop.
 

Schools

McDowell Mountain Ranch is part of the Scottsdale Unified School District. Students attend Desert Canyon Elementary School, Desert Canyon Middle School, and Desert Mountain High School. The elementary and middle schools are centrally located within the community and are connected to the various neighborhoods via community walking paths that allow residents to avoid crossing over busy surface streets. The community is also within close proximity (5 minutes) to Notre Dame Preparatory High School, a private school.
