The Mesa Arizona Temple has been sponsoring the annual Mesa Arizona Easter Pageant since 1928, and it’s no surprise that over these 87 years it has been labeled the world’s largest annual outdoor Easter pageant. While we can’t vet that honor, Arizona is nonetheless going to claim it!
The public is invited to experience the Easter story through pageantry with music, dance and drama that will have even the little ones sitting on the edge of their seat. It is quite a display of talent and commitment with shows in both English and Spanish that run now through April 4th.
The crew, actors and staff are all volunteers. There are over 475 cast members and 515 costumes. The costumes are as historically accurate as possible, and have been designed and stitched by pageant volunteers as well.
The pageant is outdoors on the north side of the Visitors' Center and starts each evening at 8:00 pm. It is free to the public. According to the event's web site, they see an average of 7600 visitors per night.
