What is cuter than a Chihuahua beauty pageant? Not much, and that’s just one of the attractions at the Arizona Taco Festival at Scottsdale’s Salt River Field this weekend.
Tacos are a “go to” food here in Arizona and we eat tens of thousands of them a year! If you are thinking ground beef, cheese and lettuce in a crunchy corn taco shell, think again! This festival will serve up tacos in all shapes, sizes and varieties since the competitors are all vying for a $10,000 cash purse for best taco!
Arizona Taco Festival
At past festivals there was a taco shell made from bacon, a crepe taco shell filled with duck meat and a one-of-a-kind cricket taco. If your taste buds lean more to the traditional fare there will be plenty of chicken, beef, pork, seafood and veggie tacos for just $2 a taco. Of course, most of us like to add some spice to our tacos and there will be plenty of home-made hot sauces to try!
But what is hotter than a hot chili pepper eating contest? We’re not sure but this may be the hottest event at the festival! To quench that thirst there will be plenty of margaritas and tequila cocktails to cool it all down.
The taco festival runs Saturday and Sunday, October 15th and 16th from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Admission is $15 with a $3.00 discount if purchased on line with some awesome VIP packages available.
Remember, here in Arizona we salt our margaritas not our sidewalks! Thinking about that winter home in Scottsdale so you don’t have to shovel snow this winter? Contact The Matheson Team to get started looking!
