According to Travel & Leisure, Scottsdale is looking pretty good these days. In the last annual ranking of the most attractive cities in the US, Scottsdale ranked number 3!
T&L wasn’t measuring the beauty of the city but that of its residents. Several factors contributed to the overall scoring; fitness, aesthetic beauty that includes sun-kissed skin and how individuals chose to adorn their bodies. Whether you draped it with a Hawaiian muu muu, rocked it with some fashionable Tevas or slipped it into a luxury labeled little black dress, you were being judged without even knowing it!
The number one factor cited for making Scottsdale residents so attractive was the time they spent outside reaping the benefits of some natural Vitamin D. Yes, Scottsdale is the perfect city for someone looking for an outdoor lifestyle with over 300+ days of sunshine a year. You can enjoy year round hiking, biking, golf, tennis, pickle ball, camping, fishing and even panning for gold down river from some of our old ghost mines.
It didn’t go unnoticed that Scottsdale has the most spas per capita in the U.S. Why not maximize the benefits of Vitamin D via body wraps or facials and save your skin exposure to the deleterious rays? Either way, Scottsdale is the perfect city for soaking up a lot of what’s good for you!
The competitive nature in me wants to know what cities took the first and second spots for the beauty of their locals and why, so I checked it out. The award for the number one most attractive city went to Honolulu, Hawaii where surf’s always up and hiking Diamond Head is pretty much a 365 day a year given.
OK, we’ll concede to the surf but not the hiking factor since we can hike the McDowell Mountains, the Superstition Mountains, the White Tanks, South Mountain, Camelback Mountain and a plethora of local trails in the foothills throughout the year. And the citizens of Scottsdale basically put the city on the map with national recognition by preserving over 30,000 acres named the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
The number 2 spot was awarded to Boulder, Colorado for their ultra-fit residents who have the luxury of the ski slopes in the winter and hiking trails in the summer and some incredible spas and wellness center when they’re not active. Understandably anyone hiking and biking at altitude will have it over someone exercising at sea level. But the chic and sassy fashions found on the bodies here in Scottsdale? Hands down we would win out over Boulder any day!
The additional cities that made the ranking include Salt Lake City, San Diego, Nashville, Charleston, Denver, Houston, Madison, Alexandria, Las Vegas, Savannah, Norfolk and San Antonio.
