The Home and Garden Tour Happens This Sunday!

Whether your taste is mid-century modern, historical Western or Old World Tuscan, there’s a lot of variety on the Home and Garden Tour in the eclectic towns of Carefree and Cave Creek this Sunday.

The name Gerry Jones is synonymous with Carefree and the Hamline residence exemplifies the renowned design that Jones is known for throughout the town. With a rusted-steel exterior and luxurious contemporary interior the design boasts the bones of a Gerry design that flaunts metals, geometric elements and a knack for “natural”.

Jones pioneered the extreme terrain architecture that is demanded of these unique home sites found on sides of mountain and in between massive granite outcroppings and huge boulder. His design of over 300 homes in the Southwest boast some of the most rugged terrain found in the area.

One of the luxury homes on tour is all about eye candy. The Spurgin residence showcases 4,400+ square feet of space for their fine art collection. The home was designed and built to capture the stunning beauty of the surrounding Sonoran desert, with views of Weavers Needle, Four Peaks and even the geyser that shoots out of the Fountain Hills fountain which has been dubbed the world’s tallest man-made fountain! The views are maximized from all of the outdoor patios and the guest house patio has a special view because it sits right above the Hohokam archaeological site.

You definitely won’t want to miss this home since it’s the only home on tour where you can purchase drinks, garden accessories and plants at the Kitchen and Garden Boutique hosted by the Cave Creek Museum volunteers.

The Binkovitz residence, a mid-century modern home that sits above the Rancho Manana Golf Course has floor-to-ceiling windows and a linear deck that capture the real feeling of living in the desert. The home is cantilevered over the desert and picks up the browns and tans of the surrounding hillside that blends perfectly with the weathered corten steel exterior.

What’s not to love about a Tuscan villa? The Dickens home on tour draws on the inspiration of Old World Italian architectural design – a two-story home with brick and beamed ceilings, wrought iron trim and staircase, Cantera front door, Tuscan tiled roof design -- that epitomizes rustic elegance. The homeowner, award winning artist, Lucy Dickens will even have her private art studio open for those that are let in on the secret to “just ask”.

Out of respect of the owners there is a strict policy of no pets or photography. Tickets can be purchased for $40 a person at the Cave Creek Museum at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 12. Or you can order before hand on line here.

This is definitely one home tour you will not want to miss!
