The Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival debuts its 23rd year this weekend with featured artist, Darrell Thomas. The artist visits Carefree from his home in Utah and is nationally recognized for his true-to-life landscape oil paintings. After graduation from Utah State University, Thomas worked as an illustrator for 20 years until he decided to leave the commercial field and pursue his own passion, painting. His decision was a fortuitous one culminating in national recognition and clients from all over the world!
The festival is the town’s signature event with over 150 artists displaying their creative works in mediums such as oil, acrylics, wood, clay, glass, charcoal, water colors, bronze, copper and mixed media. Add to that, batik, sculpture, photography, jewelry, pottery and the festival goers will have over 5,000 creative pieces to take home and add to their art collection and home decor.
Some will say the best part of the fest is the wine tasting and this one is notably Arizona's largest! Festival goers will not only enjoy six tastings of domestic and imported wines for just $10 but they will take home an engraved souvenir wine glass. Not a wine drinker? No worries, there will be micro-breweries, food and live music! This is the kickoff festival of the season by the host, Thunderbird Artists, who has been putting a call out to artists for over 30 years to promote the best artists throughout the Southwest.
You’ll find the party at the corner of Ho Hum and Easy streets in the quaint town of Carefree and it runs November 4th, 5th & 6th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is $3 for adults and children are free.
