Sunday A’fair: Free Concerts in Scottsdale

  • 02/25/16
Looking for something to do on a sunny Sunday afternoon? The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts hosts free concerts every year from January-April in Scottsdale Civic Center Park on certain Sundays.

Upcoming dates and performances this year include:

February 28: The month ends on a country note with Mogollon’s high-energy country rock and the retro rock sounds of Whiskey Kiss.

March 6: Local groups take to the stage to celebrate the Valley’s Latin and Hispanic cultures. At 2:30, the Pedrito Martinez Group performs its fusion of Afro-Cuban folkloric music, funk, and pop.

March 20: The group ’56 kicks off the day with retro rock classics, followed by the smooth sounds of the blues group, Sugar Thieves.

April 3: Sunday A’Fair’s last event features OrigiNation, a celebration of the native cultures of Arizona, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. Concerts include The Rave British Invasion, Tramor, featuring the traditional instruments and songs of Wales, and Irish rock band The Big Fellahs.

The afternoon events begin at noon and run until 4 pm. You are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets, although food, cocktails, beer, wine, and soft drinks are available for purchase.

In addition to listening to music, you can shop at the arts-and-crafts market and take a free tour of the park’s sculptures led by a docent from the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, where free tours begin at 3 pm. If you want, feel free to bring the kids—Sunday A’Fair typically has family-friendly activities as well.
