According to a Livabilty.com survey, which was released June 16th, Scottsdale was recognized as the 2nd best city for foodies in the United States.
Scottsdale ranks 2nd on Livability's foodie list
The criteria taken into consideration included: how often residents eat at locally owned restaurants, how much they spend on eating out, how many options there are for eating in, accessibility to healthy foods and quality meat, access to farmer’s markets, the use of locally grown ingredients in restaurants, and the number of critically acclaimed restaurants and chefs.
Scottsdale has all of the above. It has a robust variety of restaurants ranging from seafood and sushi to authentic Mexican, vegetarian and upscale steakhouses. There are over 600 restaurants within Scottsdale.
It also has plenty of farmer's markets, numerous specialty stores that offer healthy and organic food options, and many restaurants that promote the "farm to table" concept. The high level of tourism and large number of winter residents in Scottsdale also create a big demand for dining out, so restaurateurs feel confident opening upscale, eccentric or traditional options here.
