Remembering the Fallen on September 11 in Tempe

Remembering the Fallen on September 11 in Tempe

  • 09/11/15
Today, we commemorate the fallen who died 14 years ago today in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

While some of the most meaningful and beautiful ceremonies take place at each site, particularly in New York and Pennsylvania, there is also a poignant tribute at Tempe Beach Park.

Volunteers have gathered every year since 2003 starting on September 10 and they work hard to place 3,000 American flags-representing each life lost-in what has come to be known as the "Tempe Healing Field."

This incredible tribute will stay up until the morning of September 14, when you can join the volunteers who help take the flags down again.

You can see footage of the field at RailLife's website, but needless to say the tribute is most moving in person.

Today and always, may we never forget.
