It’s finally complete! The Model Railroad Building at the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is finished and is open to the public!
It has been years in the making with four distinct and separate model railroad clubs forging an alliance to create this one-of-a-kind attraction. The City of Scottsdale’s Planning Commission and City Council even got on board in the planning process and now the building is a proud part of the LEED Green Building program.
Step inside the 10,000 square foot building that houses five different sizes of trains, from the full-size Pullman car all the way down to the N-scale models. Be prepared to be blown away with the technical detail of the three model railroads that occupy nearly 4,000 square feet. Clanging of bells, squeals of children, and toots of all types can be readily enjoyed either sitting or standing. The multi-generational audience was given great consideration in the design process and we all know there is a little "Choo Choo Charlie" residing in most grown-ups.
The railroad displays have state-of-the art technology with touch-screen capabilities. This is the fine art of merging the old timers with the new engineers of today that run the railroads on a tight schedule and operationally like it is the real deal.
Come out any of the 363 days the park is open and get onboard at one of many of the different train depots! Enjoy a family barbecue on the grounds while listening to the background old-time peal of a train’s whistle! Children under three can ride the miniature train for free with a paying adult.
The McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is located at 7301 E. Indian Bend Road in Scottsdale and year round admission is always free.
