Art galleries have become synonymous with Old Town Scottsdale, but what about a wine gallery? Lawrence Dunham Vineyards recently opened their Wine Gallery and invite you to cruise in for some exceptionally tantalizing local wines.
There’s no wine cellar but the wine gallery has two quaint brick patios with natural shading that makes for a perfect afternoon of outdoor sipping and swirling with friends or step inside to enjoy the open kitchen and tasting bar for a new atmosphere in an old scene.
Observe, smell and taste the nuances of local grapes grown in the Chiricahua Mountain Foothills, right here in Southeast Arizona. If it’s true that wines made in a warm climate generally have a higher alcohol content than wines made in a cool climate, we are all in for some heady fun.
There seems to be a serious sense of purpose behind the owners and their vineyards and they have creatively brought the community on board by establishing a guild, Chiricahua Circle, where members donate $100 annually, to roll up their sleeves and help with the pruning and vine care, and participate in the age-old process of hand-crafted wine making. It’s rumored that there is quite a bit of fun to be had down in the wine country-while you won’t walk away a wine aficionada--you will expansively increase your wine knowledge, your circle of friends and your appetite for local wines.

They piece the art of making wine together with the art of promoting artistic talent through monthly artist meet-and-greets and by showcasing artist work on the walls of their wine gallery. The next opportunity to taste, swirl and view original artwork is February 8th when the work of husband and wife team, Poe Dismuke and Sam Woolcott of the Bisbee Sam •Poe Gallery will be in the house.
