Jaguar Clubs of North America is holding its first ever International Jaguar Festival in Scottsdale, and you’re invited to view some of the best examples of the iconic British automobile for free on Sunday, April 3, from 10:30 am-4 pm at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort.
The 6-day festival began on March 1 for Jaguar enthusiasts from 66 JNCA clubs throughout the country with rally tours, seminars, and club events that run through April 6. However, the Concours d’Elegance show on April 3rd is one of the event’s high points, featuring models throughout Jaguar’s history up to 2017.
Although the show’s cars will only date back to 1935, the Jaguar brand actually was founded in 1922 as the Swallow Sidecar Company, according to timeline historian Larry Maiorano. Over the years, it underwent several ownership changes and is now part of the combined Jaguar Land Rover, the UK’s largest automotive manufacturing business.
“The company founder, Sir William Lyons, insisted that every car produced combine performance and beauty like no other,” Maiorano said in a press release.
“Jaguar’s reputation was enhanced around the world by its motorsport success in the 1950s, winning the Le Mans 24 Hours race no less than five times in that decade—twice with a C-Type, and then three times with a D-Type.”
On display at the Concours d’Elegance show, you’ll see everything from “some of the greatest racing cars ever built” to the XK-E and XK-E Hearse from the 1971 movie “Harold and Maude,” said Jaguar Club of Arizona President Robert Bronstein in the same press release.
The free event will kick off at 10:30 am with an opening ceremony featuring the United Kingdom and Canadian Consuls as well as the U.S. Ambassador from Mexico. In addition to the 150 plus cars that are part of the timeline, there will also be a car show/competition for 66 North American Jaguar clubs!
