Get Spooked at the Best Phoenix Haunted House Attractions and More

  • 09/25/15
Ready for Halloween? We are, too, and many of the Valley’s scariest haunted houses begin terrorizing thrill seekers in late September. Here’s a rundown of what opens this weekend and what to expect from these spooktacular spectacles:

The 13th Floor Haunted House

This nationally-recognized haunted house features two attractions: Feral Moon, a town terrorized by werewolves, and Patient Alpha, a town terrorized by unfortunate souls who endured horrific medical experiments. Both are intense and graphic, and children under 13 are discouraged from attending. General admission $25; VIP Fast Pass $35; Immediate Access $45.

Dates: September 25, 26; October 2- 4, 8-11, 14-18, 20-31; November 1, 6, 7, 13, 14.

Fear Farm

Covering more than 25 acres, Fear Farm is Phoenix’s largest Halloween event with five haunted houses—Chainsaw Mayhem, Undead, The Bunker Invasion, Legends Las Leyendas, and Mouth of Madness—plus a 6-acre corn maze. It’s also produced by the entertainment group behind The 13th Floor Haunted House, so again, children under 13 are discouraged from attending, but the Unhaunted Corn Maze and Midway are priced separately and can be enjoyed by the younger crowd. General admission to the haunted houses begins at $25 and varies depending on the day.

Dates: September 25, 26; October 2-4, 8-11, 15-18, 21-31; November 1.

The Crypt and Asylum

One of Arizona’s longest running haunted houses, The Crypt and Asylum is three attractions in one. Avoid the undead in The Crypt, escape an 1870s mental hospital in The Asylum, and navigate your way (if you dare!) out of the Chaos Maze. Tickets for a single haunted house are $15; tickets for the maze are $5. The Unlimited Fright Pass, which gives you admission to both haunted houses and the maze, is $23.

Dates: September 25, 26; October 2-4, 7-11, 14-18, 21-31.

Attend one or more of these local haunted houses...if you dare!

AZ Field of Screams

Tolmachoff Farms hosts this corn field maze that was planted over an old cemetery and is now filled with the undead. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult, and the maze is not recommended for those under 10 years old. A second maze, minus the scares, is available for families. Tickets are $16 ($10 on opening night, October 2 and on Halloween). Check the AZ Field of Screams website for a $2 off coupon.

Dates: October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31.

The Gauntlet at Golfland Fright Nights

A mix of special effects, animatronics, and skilled actors transforms Golfland-Sunplash into terrifying multi-level haunted house (Note: You will be required to crawl and climb over objects and stairs). Although there is no enforced age requirement, The Gauntlet is not recommended for those under 13 or those with heart conditions. Spooktacular Mini Golf, however, is family friendly. Tickets for The Gauntlet are $15 plus tax.

Dates: September 25, 26; October 2, 3, 9, 10, 14-17, 22-24, 29-31.

Zombie WarZ

This isn’t your typical haunted house—think of it as a haunted hayride with zombies. Instead of a trailer pulled by a tractor, though, you’ll board a Zombie Assault Vehicle (AM General M923 6x6 Army Truck) and grab a weapon filled with “Zombie Paintslugz.” Your job is to shoot as many zombies as you can during the 15-minute ride. Zombie WarZ is recommended for adults and teens, although younger kids can come with parents. Minimum age is 5. Tickets are $29.95 per person and include 100 paintballs (you can purchase more).

Dates: October 1 – January 2, 2016, Monday through Saturday, weather permitting. Zombie WarZ is closed on Sunday.

The air is cooling down, fall is just around the corner, and that means it's time to embrace the spooky activities all over the Valley this October. No matter which Phoenix haunted house you choose, you won't have to drive far from Scottsdale and you're sure to to enjoy plenty of jump scares and good old fashioned Halloween fun!
