Eggs-Traordinary Fun in Scottsdale and the Valley

  • 03/22/16
Easter is almost here, and there are plenty of ways to celebrate the holiday in the days before Peter Cottontail makes his appearance. Here are a few of the Valley’s best Easter weekend events, in and around our exclusive Scottsdale communities.

Mesa Arizona Easter Pageant: The world’s largest annual outdoor Easter Pageant actually started on March 16, but it continues through Saturday, March 26, as a cast of nearly 500 depicts the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the grounds of the Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors’ Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Performances begin at 8 pm, and seating for the free event is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eggstravaganza: Hundreds of kids up to age seven will scramble through fields searching for the more than 15,000 eggs stuffed with candy and other prizes at Golden Eagle Park in Fountain Hills on Saturday, March 26. The egg hunt begins at 9 am. In addition, the Kiwanis will serve a pancake breakfast, the fire department will be on hand to answer questions about their trucks and gear, and Hoppy Bunny and Peeps the Chicken will make an appearance.

The Wigwam’s Easter Egg-stravaganza: The Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park will host an Easter egg roll on Saturday as well as an Easter parade fashion contest, egg coloring, live music, and crafts. Kids can also have breakfast with the Easter Bunny and his friends. Breakfast begins at 8 am, but the Easter Bunny doesn’t arrive until 9 am-by helicopter!

EGGstravaganza Egg Hunt: At San Tan Regional Park, kids can help the rangers collect all of Rascal the Rabbit’s hidden eggs by locating secret clues along the one quarter-mile round trip Interpretive Trail. Check in at the Visitor Center to receive the special egg hunt map. This event is also on Saturday, March 26.

Family Easter Celebration: Head to the Snedigar Sportsplex in Chandler for the city’s Easter celebration. Kids can enjoy inflatable rides, face-painting, carnival games, and other springtime activities beginning at 9 am. The egg hunt is divided based on age with each group on separate fields. Admission to the carnival and egg hunt are free.

Easter Parade and Spring Fling: In Ahwatukee, the Kiwanis sponsor an Easter parade that begins at 10 am and runs along 48th Street between Warner and Elliot roads. Following the parade, enjoy the spring carnival and craft fair held at the Ahwatukee Community Park at Warner Road and 48th Street from 11 am-4 pm. Proceeds fund local projects that benefit children in the community.

Enchanted Island Easter Egg Hunt: The Enchanted Island Amusement Park at Encanto Park will host egg hunts on both Saturday and Easter Sunday. Hunts begin at 10:20 am and are divided by age for kids up to 10 years old. Check online for approximate start times for your child’s age group. Come early to register and take pictures with the Easter Bunny.

The Westin Kierland Resort’s Easter Eggstravaganza: Looking for some extra fun on Easter Sunday? The Westin Kierland Resort is hosting a hunt with 25,000 eggs, a petting zoo, bounce houses, crafts, and other family-friendly activities for resort and Easter brunch guests.

Bunny Palooza: The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is going all out for Easter. Bunny Palooza features concerts by Grammy-nominated children’s artist Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, a Ferris wheel, bounce house, petting zoo, pony rides, rock climbing wall, and games. There’s also an Easter egg hunt and appearances by Princess Lily and the Easter Bunny. The event is complimentary for hotel and brunch guests, though tickets are required for Ironwood American Kitchen or Toro Latin Restaurant guests.

Wherever you spend the day/weekend, we hope you have a truly hoppy Easter!
