You don’t have to be into golf to know the number one party in Scottsdale in January is at the Birds Nest at the Waste Management Phoenix Open after a long day on the course! The party starts January 28th and runs every evening, culminating with some phenomenal electric music at the the Grand Finale on Saturday, January 31st.
Wednesday, January 28th kicks off the Coors Light Birds Nest with the American indie pop duo, Capital Cities, best known for their top-10 single “Safe and Sound,” followed on Thursday with country star Darius Rucker. You’ll know that name from Hootie and the Blowfish - he was the lead singer who broke out on his own to become the Grammy Award winning country artist that he is today, with six number one songs to his name. "Wagon Wheel" is his most recent hit.
But, wait for Friday night when Kid Rock will hit the stage under the big tent and performing his feature hits, “Let’s Ride” and “Rebel Soul.”
Saturday night is when the real rockin’ party turns up as Afrojac, the Grammy award winning DJ and producer, takes the stage with a mix up to light the sky in North Scottsdale. In 2013, Afrojac made the Forbes list as the seventh highest paid DJ in the world, and a year later with his more recent gigs with David Guetta and Nicki Minaj, you can bet he’s moved up to the top of that list. Most will know him from his recent spins of Drop the Bass by Artistic Raw recorded on his own label Wall Recordings.
Remember when you just walked into the Birds Nest tent with a day pass from the Open and it was free? Times have changed and so has the admission -- tickets go from $35 (for Wednesday night) and $50 for Thursday through Saturday.
Want to go all out? VIP tickets into the private Absolute Vodka area include a dinner, free drinks and a premium viewing area of the bands and will run you $175 for Wednesday and $200 all other nights.
