You may love your sweetheart to the moon and back, but luckily, you don’t have to go very far to show that special someone how much you care. Here are six romantic things you can do for them in and around Scottsdale this Valentine’s Day.
Enjoy a romantic dinner: Scottsdale lays claim to some of the best—and most romantic—restaurants in the Valley, and many of them have special menus for Valentine’s Day. At Lon’s at the Hermosa Inn, you can order a la carte from the menu or enjoy a prix fixe meal ($75 per person) February 12-14. Bink’s Kitchen + Bar Scottsdale has a special six course pre-fixe menu (also $75 per person) with optional wine pairings for an additional $35 per person.
In downtown Scottsdale, Citizen’s Public House is offering a three course tasting menu ($60 per person) with an optional 32-ounce Bone-In Tomahawk Ribeye for two.
At Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa, Prado Contemporary Restaurant also has a three-course prix fixe menu ($79 per person) with optional wine pairings for an additional $35 per person.
Get cooking: Preparing a meal together is a romantic and fun Valentine’s activity. Both Scottsdale locations of Sur La Table—the one at Kierland Commons and the one at Fashion Square—are offering a Romance in Italy cooking class the weekend of Valentine’s Day for $85 per person.
Sweet Basil Gourmet will show you and your loved one how to create a Valentine’s Day tea at home, featuring classic tea sandwiches and cookies.
Additionally, on Valentine’s Day, you can learn how to prepare brunch items at the Classic Cooking Academy in Scottsdale.
Have a picnic: If you’re going to go to the trouble of making your own meal, why not pack it in a basket, grab a blanket, and head for the green grass at Scottsdale Civic Center Mall? Of course, you don’t have to do the work yourself. You can purchase food to go from local restaurants, such as AZ88 or Distrito.
After you’ve eaten, stroll past the mall’s fountains, and pose for pictures near the LOVE sculpture. Or, admire the work on display inside the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art ($7 for adults).
Take a gondola ride: You don’t get much more romantic than a gondola ride in an authentic Italian gondola boat. At the Hyatt Regency Resort at Gainey, professional gondoliers serenade you as they steer you along one of three routes on the property’s 7-acre lake. Gondola rides are available year-round, weather permitting, and cost $10 per adult. However, you can get a free gondola ride with dinner at the resort’s restaurant, Alto Ristorante. Note that you won’t have a private ride with just you and your sweetheart unless you pay $60.
Relax with a couple’s massage: Most resorts in the Valley offer a couple’s massage, but some of the best are in Scottsdale. At Golden Door Spa at the Boulders, you can select the massage you want and enjoy it side-by-side with your partner. For a premier experience, upgrade to the Sunsuite, a private spa suite that includes an outdoor fireplace, indoor and outdoor showers, Jacuzzi, and private restroom.
Other couple’s massages worth considering in the Scottsdale area include ones at the Four Seasons Scottsdale Spa, Agave at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa, Sanctuary Spa at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, and Willow Stream at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.
Make it a weekend: If you’re going to be at a resort for a massage anyway, why not spend Valentine's Day weekend pampering your special someone? Royal Palms Resort & Spa has a Royal Romance Package that includes dinner for two at T. Cook’s Restaurant and rose-petal turndown, and that also includes a romance consultant to help arrange decadent spa treatments and intimate candlelit dinners.
The romantic package at JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa offers a casita guest room, champagne, chocolate strawberries or truffles, dinner for two in Rita’s Kitchen, and breakfast there the following morning.
At the Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain, the Romance in Paradise package includes a one night’s stay, plush robes, chocolate-covered strawberries, champagne, and a rose-petal turndown. For Valentine’s Day, the resort is offering a special Sweetheart’s Sanctuary package that allows you to book a a two- to seven-night stay at a 10 percent discount and includes one 60-minute spa treatment per guest, Valentine’s Day dinner at Elements, and a rose-petal turndown.
The Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North has several romantic options. If you opt for the Hideaway Package, you’ll enjoy a Love Potion welcome cocktail, couples’ bath amenities, and love sonnets to enjoy together. You can add to that a Celestial Picnic (a gourmet meal for two under the stars), a special breakfast in bed prepared by the chef, or a hot air balloon experience.
