Father’s Day is June 19 this year. Celebrate the man who played such an important role in your life by spending time doing one of these five fun things with your dad in Scottsdale on Father’s Day.
Golf for points
Taking Dad to one of Scottsdale's incredible golf courses is always a great option, but if you want to try something a little different that the whole family can enjoy, head to Top Golf Scottsdale at Riverwalk. Similar to bowling, each person takes turns teeing off towards one of 11 targets, each with reader that detects the microchip in the golfer’s ball. You score points based on how close you are to the targets, which range from 20 to 240 yards away. The further away the target and the closer to that target you are, the more points you score.
Dad can bring his own clubs or rent clubs at no additional charge. Top Golf has both right- and left-handed clubs for men, women, and children. In addition to clubs, the facility also has a full menu, including alcohol.
Race to the finish line
Challenge Dad to a race at Octane Raceway, where high-end electric karts whip through the turns of a 1/3-mile long track. Races run every 10 minutes with a maximum of 12 racers on the track at a time and are designed to test driving skills. Although anyone wearing closed-toe shoes over 54 inches tall can race, you must be at least 16 years old (with a valid, state-issued ID) to participate as an adult. Juniors race in separate heats with the karts set at half speed (15 to 20 miles per hour).
Between races, you can play games in the arcade, try your hand at mini-bowling, toss bags in a game of corn hole, or take a turn at Jumbo Jenga. Octane Raceway has a grill that serves hamburgers, pizza, wraps, and sandwiches as well as wine and beer, including six selections on draft.
Catch a ballgame
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to watch the Arizona Diamondbacks play at Chase Field because they’ll be taking on the Phillies in Philadelphia on Father’s Day. You can, however, take Dad to lunch at one of Scottsdale’s many sports grill, where the family can watch the game live on television. Some of the more popular places to catch the game in Scottsdale are RnR Restaurant, Majerle’s Sport’s Grill, Don & Charlie’s, and Blue 32 Sports Grill.
Pedal downtown (or not)
Let Dad feel like a kid again on an electric bike. These lithium battery-powered bicycles work just like a regular bicycle except, when Dad wants to let the battery take over to go up a hill, for example, he can.

If you are over 21 and you and dad both appreciate fine Scotch, you may want to check out The Scotch Library at The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa. The resort will be offering tastings on Friday, June 17, and Saturday, June 18, of four Glenmorangie whiskeys: the Glenmorangie 10-year, La Santa, Quinta-Ruban, and Nectar D’Or.
