Welcome to Desert Highlands

Situated at the base of the majestic Pinnacle Peak, Desert Highlands in North Scottsdale sets the standard for all other private golf communities. It is comprised of 560 homesites across 850 acres of lush desert land with striking views of the desert, mountains, and golf course visible from every lot. Half the acreage in the community is designated to remain undeveloped and in its natural state. The community caters to a luxurious lifestyle by providing top-of-the-line amenities with abundant recreational and social opportunities.

Desert Highlands was the first community built around a golf course and it has been the model for all other golf communities that have followed. The entire perimeter of Desert Highlands is walled and members and visitors access the property through a guard-gated entry.

Real Estate

The majority of homes for sale in this community are custom homes. In addition, there are 2 semi-custom neighborhoods, The Heights and the Hillside Villa Estates. Development began in the mid-1980s and a few custom homes are still being built today. There are also a few vacant home sites left to be built on.

Desert Highlands Golf Club

Membership at Desert Highlands Golf Club is limited to property owners in the community, and every resident is a member. The club boasts a championship golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus – a par 72, measuring 7,108 yards from the tips. To enhance the desert effect and conserve water, turf has been used efficiently and ultimately has created a ‘target-golf’ effect. The course was the home of the first ever skins game played by the ‘ultimate foursome’ – Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, and Gary Player. Member privileges at Desert Highlands include the enjoyment of all the world-class amenities: Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, 18-hole putting course, 13 grass, clay, and hard surface tennis courts, clubhouse, swimming pool, and state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center.

The tennis amenities are some of the best in Scottsdale. No matter what your skill level, four clay courts, four grass courts, two Nova Pro Bounce courts, and three hard surface Laykold courts provide the chance to perfect your game. Next to the clubhouse is the 7,000-square-foot fitness and wellness center, where residents can take advantage of a fully equipped health destination. A large variety of fitness classes, cardio and weight equipment, personal training, and nutritional consulting is available. After a thorough workout or a long day on the golf course, indulge in a relaxing massage.
