Toad the Wet Sprocket to Headline the 2017 Arizona Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon

  • 01/12/17
Are you in for running 26.2 or 13.1 miles or would you prefer to walk the sidelines enjoying live bands while sipping some good craft brew? Whatever your gait, 25,000 runners plus thousands of spectators will turn out this weekend for the Arizona Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon as it spans the cities of Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe.

Both the marathon and half marathon use the wave start procedure with the fastest runners up front with a 7:50 a.m. start time! There will be two different start locations; the marathon starts in Phoenix while the half marathon starts in Tempe and both wind through Scottsdale before finishing at the Tempe Beach Park.

In the past you would have to get up at the crack of dawn to get that one-and-only glimpse of your loved one as they started the race, if you were lucky enough to spot them at all. Now with your smart phone you can locate your runner anywhere on the course. Just click here and enter their name or bib number and then position yourself on the course to cheer them on as they come by.

But the real novelty of this race is the live bands positioned along the course where spectators can spend their down time, waiting and waiting and waiting. There are plenty of local bands mile after mile to keep the party going, but the real gig for this world-class event is Toad the Wet Sprocket at the Finish Line Festival in Tempe Park!

The weather is perfect so come out and enjoy the day! But if you just want to avoid the whole thing here are the road closures!
