It’s that time of the year again. Barrett-Jackson will hosts its annual Scottsdale collectible automobile auction January 23 through January 31, 2016, at WestWorld.
Now in its 45th year, the 9-day event brings more than 1,500 rare and collectible cars to the auction block. Among the more highly anticipated offerings are a 1939 Mercedes-Benz 540K once owned by German Field Marshal Erhard Milch and a one-off, custom-made 1938 Coddington V12 Hemi known as “The French Connection.”
Other available cars include a 1959 Chevrolet Corvette “Purple People Eater,” a 1965 Shelby Cobra CSX 8000 Roadster, and a 1933 Packard Eight Rumble Seat Coupe. For a preview of other automobiles available at the auction, click here.
Cars won’t be the only items under the gavel. Barrett-Jackson also hosts a popular automobilia auction of rare and one-of-a-kind automotive collectibles. This year’s auction will feature more than 1,300 pieces, including wall hangings and gas pumps.
You don’t have to bid on any of the items to enjoy the auction. Even if you have no interest in sitting in on the event as a spectator, you can view collectible automobiles on display, participate in the Ride ‘N Drives and Thrill Rides with Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge, shop at the vendor marketplace, and enjoy live music on select evenings.
The Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction is also a good place to watch for celebrities. Last year, Tim Allen, CeeLo Green, Alice Cooper, Sharon Stone, and Jeff Gordon were in attendance, to name a few.
You may also want to check out the new Experts’ Symposiums, which will be held early in the week. During this event, enthusiasts will have the opportunity to get an idea about what to look for when buying a car and hear from Barrett-Jackson experts.
The Cox Family Value Day kicks off the week-long event on Saturday, January 23 with free admission for children under 12. The Opening Night Gala, a renowned event held at each of Barrett-Jackson’s four annual auctions, will be on the same evening.
Ticket prices vary depending on which day you attend. If you plan to bring the family, your best bet may be Family Value Day on January 23, the first day of the event. Children under 12 get in free and adult tickets are $17 in advance. Tickets on Sunday and Monday drop to $11 for adults, $8 for children and gradually get more expensive as the week progresses. On Friday, January 29, general admission is $50 in advance, and Saturday, January 30, it peaks at $60.
Twilight tickets that are valid from 5 p.m. to the end of the auction offer a significant value at nearly half off the full day’s admission. If you’re an avid car enthusiast, your best bet is the all-week pass at $175 for adults and $125 for seniors, military personnel, and students.
